Legislative recap [September 30, 2011 edition] [part 2]

This post by Dylan Bouscher:

The House amended and passed BRHB-11-31, a bill that will fund a $5,700 trip to Halloween Horror Nights for Lambda United and the Residential Student Association.

The final vote was 21-14.

SG Advisor Heather Bishara asked, “If we approve the bill for Halloween Horror Nights, won’t other organzations come forward and ask us for fun trips?”

Speaker Boris Bastidas responded “COSO and the Travel Committee do not fund trips like this. This is a special case because they cannot go anywhere else. If we open the floodgates and have to make hard decisions, let’s get more students involved and not be afraid to say no.”
